FC Steaua Pildesti's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester City the free kick. The supporters of Manchester City booed when FC Steaua Pildesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentin Rareș didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The wind increased when Octav Mergea made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Octav Mergea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Stelian Pânzariu was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. In the 54th minute, Robert Achifoaiei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Rareș Ficsinescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stelian Pânzariu came out of the goal and Rareș Ficsinescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The FC Steaua Pildesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. In the 74th minute Nichifor Dragota shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eric Frântu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stelian Pânzariu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rareș Ficsinescu in the 77th minute of play. Stelian Pânzariu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rareș Ficsinescu in the 84th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Octav Mergea had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stelian Pânzariu. Manchester City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Octav Mergea was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 9-0. In the 93rd minute, Gheorghe Vlăsiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. There was no doubt that FC Steaua Pildesti were the better team. FC Steaua Pildesti's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
