With a little luck, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Grigore Mardarie got control of the ball when Nechifor Sorin tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Narcis Aursulesei hit a great ball. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Grigore Mardarie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nechifor Sorin in the 16th minute of play. Grigore Mardarie made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doru Abraham in the 18th minute. When Horea Macamete fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A4p FC Gad's protests and gave Horea Macamete a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to A4p FC Gad getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Gigi Dăscălescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gigi Dăscălescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Denis Bourceanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After 47 played minutes A4p FC Gad got a freekick which was hit by Ionel Marchiș. The A4p FC Gad players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Petru Isopescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Paul Prisecaru was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Gigi Dăscălescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Prisecaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
