The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in FC Zarzyk's zone, Zula Kaczynski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radomil Smolarek came out of the goal and Zula Kaczynski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zula Kaczynski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Zarzyk's Radomil Smolarek proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save FC Zarzyk from getting a goal against them. Mieszko Skrzypiec showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zbyszek Gregorczyk in the 12th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Roland Japola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 23 minutes into the match, Piast Choszczno's goal looked a bit too open when Dariusz Hryc came free, but Mieszko Skrzypiec reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Piast Choszczno were furious when Norbert Mindykowski was red carded, 24 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 24 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Piast Choszczno! FC Zarzyk's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Olaf Kolbe in the 27th minute. In the 29th minute Zbyszek Gregorczyk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mieszko Skrzypiec saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the game, Igor Pietras was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Zarzyk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Piast Choszczno the free kick. Igor Pietras kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After 31 minutes, Eugeniusz Kasperowicz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Zarzyk and the Piast Choszczno players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 31 played minutes FC Zarzyk got a freekick which was hit by Eugeniusz Kasperowicz. Radomil Smolarek made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Lucjan Tylenda sent off a good shot on target. Zula Kaczynski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Radomil Smolarek having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zbyszek Gregorczyk during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Piast Choszczno booed when FC Zarzyk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zbyszek Gregorczyk didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zula Kaczynski was the one to do the kick off. FC Zarzyk's Radomil Smolarek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zula Kaczynski in the 51st minute of play. In the 54th minute, Waldemar Gamza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Zarzyk's Olaf Kolbe couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 55th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Piast Choszczno. In the 61st minute, Mateusz Absolwent hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Zula Kaczynski fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Piast Choszczno's protests and gave Zula Kaczynski a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Piast Choszczno's Roland Japola got a free kick in the 80th minute. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
