The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hans Schrader during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Savage Hippo's Vaidas Rakauskas in the 7th minute got a chance for a shot 7th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalie prevented a goal. 14 minutes into the match, Savage Hippo's goal looked a bit too open when Radomil Gabler came free, but Jogaila Palčiauskas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jogaila Palčiauskas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Halil Winskowsky in the 16th minute. In the 17th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gino Nölte to maneuver through the defense. Jogaila Palčiauskas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Halil Winskowsky in the 19th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Savage Hippo defense, Radomil Gabler kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jogaila Palčiauskas. The Savage Hippo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jogaila Palčiauskas should have stopped the shot. Johann Scheuerer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vaidas Rakauskas in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Halil Winskowsky to maneuver through the defense. Johann Scheuerer stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vaidas Rakauskas's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Halil Winskowsky received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Jogaila Palčiauskas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Gino Nölte fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rot-Weiss-Essen's protests and gave Gino Nölte a yellow card for diving instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Vaidas Rakauskas made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Radomil Gabler in the 54th minute of play forced Savage Hippo's goalkeeper Jogaila Palčiauskas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jogaila Palčiauskas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Radomil Gabler went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Savage Hippo's Jogaila Palčiauskas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Halil Winskowsky in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Vaidas Rakauskas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Johann Scheuerer was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. After having played for 72 minutes, Vaidas Rakauskas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Savage Hippo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vaidas Rakauskas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 74 minutes into the match, Savage Hippo's goal looked a bit too open when Halil Winskowsky came free, but Jogaila Palčiauskas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jogaila Palčiauskas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Through an outstanding action, after 96 minutes, Johann Scheuerer successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans cheered their team off the field, for while Savage Hippo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
