After 6 played minutes ΟΦΗ got a freekick which was hit by Giorgos Katzelis. In the 7th minute, Ilias Lazanas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sakis Karvouniaris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ignatios Brilakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giorgos Katzelis in the 12th minute of play forced Glyka Nera FC's goalkeeper Sakis Karvouniaris to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Vassilis Fragidis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glyka Nera FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vassilis Fragidis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fanis Sigalas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 16th minute, Thalis Papaefthimiou got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thalis Papaefthimiou's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 19thth minute, Fanis Sigalas skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ignatios Brilakis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sakis Karvouniaris having to make a save. In the 46th minute Ignatios Brilakis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sakis Karvouniaris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half ΟΦΗ were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Giorgos Katzelis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sakis Karvouniaris having to interfere. Makis Argyrakis scored 0-2 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sakis Karvouniaris, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 59 minutes, Michalis Labrakis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Glyka Nera FC and the ΟΦΗ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st match minute, ΟΦΗ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Makis Argyrakis to maneuver through the defense. In the 64th minute Giorgos Katzelis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sakis Karvouniaris saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Glyka Nera FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Fivos Touboulis hit a great ball. Giorgos Katzelis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Sakis Karvouniaris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sakis Karvouniaris took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giorgos Katzelis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glyka Nera FC's Sakis Karvouniaris played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ignatios Brilakis in the 80th minute of play. Sofoklis Stathatos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Sakis Karvouniaris made a huge save. Iordanis Drambas's late challenge caught a Glyka Nera FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iordanis Drambas helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Glyka Nera FC booed when ΟΦΗ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iordanis Drambas didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 88 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Thalis Papaefthimiou sped through ΟΦΗ's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fanis Sigalas. ΟΦΗ played a much better game than Glyka Nera FC and deserved their victory. The Glyka Nera FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
