Beppe Barbato kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Dimitris Maros kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Enrico Eleuteri. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Cesano Boscone's goalkeeper Enrico Eleuteri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dimitris Maros. Dario Oberrauch's late challenge caught a Atletico de Madrid's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dario Oberrauch helped the player get up and apologised. The referee felt a red card was in order, 19 minutes into the game, when Ernesto Ramoser put in a rough tackle. In the 19th minute, Ernesto Ramoser hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enrico Eleuteri made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Marios Kailas sent off a good shot on target. After 36 played minutes Cesano Boscone got a freekick which was hit by Beppe Barbato. With a little luck, Cesano Boscone's Enrico Eleuteri got control of the ball when Marios Kailas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nikolas Karkamanis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damiano Maldini in the 44th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Iakovos Papafotopoulos to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Atletico de Madrid defense, Dario Oberrauch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nikolas Karkamanis. The Atletico de Madrid fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nikolas Karkamanis should have stopped the shot. When Atletico de Madrid's Thanasis Vamvoukas in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Kostas Papadatos got his second yellow card in the match during the 93rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 94th minute, Kostas Papadatos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nikolas Karkamanis was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Antonio Bosco.
