The referee showed Carter De Vecchis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Royal PSG's Serge Dole shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 24th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Augusto Avesani but with some difficulty. In the 30th minute Fausto Iachini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Octave Baronnet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mathias Serieys received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Augusto Avesani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Atletico Benevento! Serge Dole walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 39 minutes into the match, Fausto Iachini notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Royal PSG's Octave Baronnet. Octave Baronnet was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
