Pannekoeken's Harold Breugel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronald Bruin in the 4th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Teo Hoogstrate ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Harold Breugel was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Jan Hendrik Oost took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martien Crans, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rafael Lambers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jan Hendrik Oost having to interfere. The supporters of De Kwakel FC booed when Pannekoeken was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Lambers didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Pannekoeken defense, Ronald Bruin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Harold Breugel. The Pannekoeken fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Harold Breugel should have stopped the shot. Aad Compaan hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After 25 played minutes Pannekoeken got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Lambers. Ronald Bruin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Harold Breugel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. In the 29th minute Stephan Overmars shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Hendrik Oost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aad Compaan kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Stephan Overmars sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arno Zonneveld in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jan Hendrik Oost saved De Kwakel FC from getting behind. In the 36th minute, Stephan Overmars got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ted Hofmeester charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ted Hofmeester the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Pannekoeken booed when De Kwakel FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ted Hofmeester didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan Hendrik Oost stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arno Zonneveld's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Arno Zonneveld made the kick off in the second half. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jan Hendrik Oost prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
