If Renaut Van Gele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Benefica's zone, Seppe den Pelsmaeker stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martien van Boxel came out of the goal and Seppe den Pelsmaeker tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Seppe den Pelsmaeker came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the All Stars Gent fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Seppe den Pelsmaeker couldn't finish the play. 18 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's goal looked a bit too open when Seppe den Pelsmaeker came free, but Martien van Boxel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jacco Swart hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Theo Blikman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Jorn Degraef successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 30th minute, Seppe den Pelsmaeker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to All Stars Gent getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Henry Dewinter hit a great ball. In the 37th minute, Seppe den Pelsmaeker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The All Stars Gent fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1.

Silvain Kerkhofs's late challenge caught a Fc Benefica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Theo Blikman managed to get in a good position for a shot.
