With an all-out effort, MK Investments's Nicky Rauvoets threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Demy Krommert, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Kristian van Dalen hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The supporters of KV Schoonwater booed when MK Investments was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Geert Hebert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 16th minute, Pieter-Jan Roelandts ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kelvin Overmars was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Kelvin Overmars didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Laurenz Kerselaers went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The supporters of MK Investments booed when KV Schoonwater was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laurenz Kerselaers didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jouke Vaalman in the 28th minute of play forced KV Schoonwater's goalkeeper Nicky Rauvoets to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The coaching staff of KV Schoonwater protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ernst Bellinkx had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Demy Krommert might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicky Rauvoets. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Demy Krommert ran back to his position shaking his head. Marc Saelens struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Kelvin Overmars didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for KV Schoonwater. Jouke Vaalman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Nicky Rauvoets made a huge save. After the first half KV Schoonwater were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Charles Cheepers stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match, Marc Saelens tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Kelvin Overmars saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Nicky Rauvoets made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jouke Vaalman in the 57th minute of play. Laurenz Kerselaers hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match.
