FC Ruh Lviv's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Seagulls the free kick. A collision led to FC Ruh Lviv getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Seagulls's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Kostyantyn Tereschenko was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Vasyl Shevel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Popken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Seagulls's Wilco Owusu Abeyie got a free kick in the 45th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilco Owusu Abeyie made a kick off.
