When Kevin De Wyngaert came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Haithabu FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kevin De Wyngaert couldn't finish the play. Christian Peeters helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Brecht La Rose managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haithabu FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Brecht La Rose was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrice De Leger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Minion Mim getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Paul-Louis Villyn hit a great ball. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Haithabu FC's goalkeeper Nic Cox, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Brecht La Rose could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Fabrice De Leger made a huge save. Kenneth Blanchaert kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Haithabu FC's zone, Matijs De Weerdt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nic Cox came out of the goal and Matijs De Weerdt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paul-Louis Villyn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nic Cox having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Paul-Louis Villyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nic Cox took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul-Louis Villyn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Haithabu FC's Nic Cox played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paul-Louis Villyn in the 40th minute of play. Nic Cox stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paul-Louis Villyn's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. In the 46th minute Paul-Louis Villyn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nic Cox saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
