In the 13th minute, Icoara Football Club's Fabrício Rosa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After 15 played minutes Dragões de Campo Grande got a freekick which was hit by Thomás Montenegro. Pedro Luiz Vaz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Caetano Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Antônio Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Icoara Football Club booed when Dragões de Campo Grande was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Maria Coutinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Egídio Lucas made the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the game, Dragões de Campo Grande's José Maria Coutinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Caetano Monteiro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Laércio das Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Roger Brasil kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 76th minute Genílson de Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Icoara Football Club booed when Dragões de Campo Grande was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Víktor Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Laércio Seco hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Caetano Monteiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Maria Coutinho went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-5 was the resulting score. Antônio Cosme took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Caetano Monteiro. Caetano Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-6. When the final whistle went the supporters of Dragões de Campo Grande were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Icoara Football Club side.
