In the 3rd minute, José Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fred da Silva got free with Hugo Santos in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fred da Silva could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Hugo Santos made a huge save. In the 12th minute, José Maria Coutinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dragões de Campo Grande fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 18th minute, Samuca Chaves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 19 minutes into the match, Dragões de Campo Grande's goal looked a bit too open when Fred da Silva came free, but Hugo Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Edu Mazza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Clube Atlético Paulista's Abelardo Salgado got a free kick in the 25th minute. Samuca Chaves hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Fred da Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube Atlético Paulista's supporters rose to their feet, but Fred da Silva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gildo Diniz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 34th minute, José Maria Coutinho made a precise shot to the right of Gildo Diniz. Clube Atlético Paulista's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. After the first half Dragões de Campo Grande were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Clube Atlético Paulista's defense didn't have a chance, in the 63rd minute, when José Maria Coutinho scored to the left of an out of position Gildo Diniz, making the score, 0-4. A collision led to Dragões de Campo Grande getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Zé Carlos Vinhas hit a great ball. Fred da Silva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute, Luís Fabiano Pereira made a precise shot to the right of Hugo Santos. Dragões de Campo Grande's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Fred da Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Santos having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Fabiano Pereira in the 77th minute of play forced Dragões de Campo Grande's goalkeeper Hugo Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute Fred da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Silva took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gildo Diniz. Gildo Diniz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. Although Clube Atlético Paulista had been in control for most of the match, Dragões de Campo Grande still came away with the win.
