The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Portuguesa getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. In the 18th minute, Renatinho Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Perivaldo Pitta during the 22nd minute. After a rather tough play, Dal 3ello's Perivaldo Pitta got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Gustavo Corrêa got free with Giovani de Amaral in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Giovani de Amaral was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Renatinho Lara showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-5 in the 94 minute of play.
