The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Renan Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Goiano having to interfere. Gurdurão's Renan Cunha got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Felippe Medeiros hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Edson Futebol Clube's Arlindo Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilson Vianna in the 20th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Gurdurão's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Saraiva came free, but Giuseppe Nóbrega reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ramiro Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the game, Edson Futebol Clube's Ulisses Coutinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Giuseppe Nóbrega made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 32 minutes into the match, Bruninho Novaes notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Edson Futebol Clube's Arlindo Goiano. Arlindo Goiano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Saraiva in the 35th minute of play forced Gurdurão's goalkeeper Giuseppe Nóbrega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gurdurão's Giuseppe Nóbrega played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ulisses Coutinho in the 37th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Edson Futebol Clube's zone, Renan Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arlindo Goiano came out of the goal and Renan Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 48th minute Ramiro Saraiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giuseppe Nóbrega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilson Vianna made a kick off. The supporters of Gurdurão booed when Edson Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Pedro Garcia didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Wilson Vianna came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Gurdurão fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilson Vianna couldn't finish the play. If Wilson Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Bruninho Novaes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arlindo Goiano was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. In the 68th minute, João Vítor Dionísio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wilson Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Goiano having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Willian Siqueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Edson Futebol Clube's Zé Pedro Garcia got a free kick in the 80th minute. If Felippe Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the match, Gurdurão's goal looked a bit too open when Ramiro Saraiva came free, but Giuseppe Nóbrega reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Despite being the better team, Edson Futebol Clube failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
