A collision led to Sipo EC getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Wágner do Valle hit a great ball. Evaristo Abreu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sílvio Luís do Nascimento showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 7 minute of play. 11 minutes into the game, Juarês Gerber was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Itajaí Football Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sipo EC the free kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wágner do Valle during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th minute, Wágner do Valle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flávio Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agostinho Tasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Célio Cardoso scored 1-1 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flávio Batista, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 24th minute Wágner do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flávio Batista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Itajaí Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Agostinho Tasso came free, but Flávio Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Evaristo Abreu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Arósio in the 30th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 30 minutes into the game, when Valdir Dracena put in a rough tackle. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Sipo EC! Juarês Gerber walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Evaristo Abreu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benê Lima in the 36th minute. Thiago Cruz might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Flávio Batista. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thiago Cruz ran back to his position shaking his head. After the first half Sipo EC were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Anselmo Madureira was the one to do the kick off. Sipo EC's Evaristo Abreu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Arósio in the 53rd minute of play. Agostinho Tasso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Flávio Batista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When William Arósio fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itajaí Football Club's protests and gave William Arósio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd match minute, Itajaí Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Arósio to maneuver through the defense. Evaristo Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sílvio Luís do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After 68 minutes of play, Itajaí Football Club's Anselmo Madureira made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The supporters of Sipo EC booed when Itajaí Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Túlio Jacinto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Flávio Batista made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Agostinho Tasso sent off a good shot on target. When Wágner do Valle came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Sipo EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner do Valle couldn't finish the play. In the 80th minute, Christiano Cearense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Norberto Abreu fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itajaí Football Club's protests and gave Norberto Abreu a yellow card for diving instead. Norberto Abreu hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Simão Custódio from long distance, 82 minutes into the match, got Flávio Batista's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 86th match minute, Sipo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simão Custódio to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benê Lima in the 88th minute of play forced Sipo EC's goalkeeper Evaristo Abreu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Evaristo Abreu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anselmo Madureira went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score.
