The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Simão Soares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Qjos MiLLano defense, Francisco Garcia kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Simão Soares. The Qjos MiLLano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Simão Soares should have stopped the shot. Olavo Vasconcelos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luís Guilherme Quirino in the 23rd minute. André Munhoz's late challenge caught a Liga Esporte Paulo Afonso's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. André Munhoz helped the player get up and apologised. André Munhoz kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. After 39 played minutes, Liga Esporte Paulo Afonso's Fernandinho Paes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Simão Soares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Liga Esporte Paulo Afonso reached it. 40 minutes into the game, Liga Esporte Paulo Afonso's Renatinho Braga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Simão Soares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 65 minutes, Sílvio Luís Lucas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liga Esporte Paulo Afonso and the Qjos MiLLano players grew even worse after the yellow card.
