Wanderson Baptista started the match with the kick off. Vila Nova FC's Beto de Sousa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Vila Nova FC from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Vila Nova FC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Adhemar Freire hit a great ball. Wanderson Baptista struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. José Carlos Meireles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vila Nova FC. In the 26th minute, Adhemar Freire made a precise shot to the right of José Carlos Meireles. New England Patriots's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Wanderson Baptista sped through New England Patriots's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of José Carlos Meireles. In the 35th minute, Toninho de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute, Cacá da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cacá da Fonseca scored 0-3 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of José Carlos Meireles, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nelson da Mata to make the kick off. Cacá da Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. José Carlos Meireles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the game, Wanderson Baptista cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. José Carlos Meireles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luiz Gustavo Oliveira kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. If Nelson da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Toninho de Souza fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored New England Patriots's protests and gave Toninho de Souza a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th minute, Toninho de Souza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. José Carlos Meireles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cacá da Fonseca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 81 played minutes Vila Nova FC got a freekick which was hit by Wanderson Baptista. Cacá da Fonseca received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. José Carlos Meireles came out and tried to block the shot, but Cacá da Fonseca slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 89th minute. Vila Nova FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
