Eduardo Pereira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Breguete FC's Júlio de Amorim got a free kick in the 9th minute. After 10 played minutes, Corinthians's Faustão Motta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Elder Monteiro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Corinthians reached it. Elder Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Víktor Sarmento in the 12th minute of play. Elder Monteiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Víktor Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jarbas Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Diniz having to interfere. After having played for 26 minutes, Gonçalo de Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonçalo de Lara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Henrique Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Elder Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jarbas Secco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Delfim Diniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Evandro Salles stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Breguete FC booed when Corinthians was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Víktor Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Breguete FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty! Breguete FC:s Elder Monteiro showed great skill when he stopped Faustão Motta:s penalty. After a defensive mix-up in Breguete FC's zone, Víktor Sarmento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elder Monteiro came out of the goal and Víktor Sarmento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eduardo Pereira kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. 75 minutes into the game, Henrique Rossi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Corinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Breguete FC the free kick. Yuri Senna struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Delfim Diniz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Breguete FC. 81 minutes into the match, Breguete FC's goal looked a bit too open when Víktor Sarmento came free, but Elder Monteiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 83rd minute, Víktor Sarmento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Breguete FC's Elder Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Víktor Sarmento in the 87th minute of play. After having played for 98 minutes, Jarbas Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Breguete FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jarbas Secco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Breguete FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Corinthians were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
