After 2 played minutes Breguete FC got a freekick which was hit by Dudu das Neves. After 4 played minutes SRP-Laguna got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Queirós. Roberto Barbosa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evandro Salles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of SRP-Laguna:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Breguete FC:s goal. The referee gave Breguete FC a penalty, 11 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Edmílson Munhoz, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of SRP-Laguna's Roberto Barbosa. 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aníbal Tavares during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 13 played minutes Breguete FC got a freekick which was hit by Aníbal Tavares. Breguete FC's Sílvio Luiz Mendonça pulled a muscle in his back after 17 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Breguete FC made a substitution. Eduardo Pereira replaced Sílvio Luiz Mendonça. The supporters of Breguete FC booed when SRP-Laguna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelsinho Mendes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute of the match Eduardo Pereira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roberto Barbosa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Breguete FC booed when SRP-Laguna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Sergipano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edmílson Munhoz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 26th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Roberto Barbosa. SRP-Laguna's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Romeu Martins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rubens Brasil got free with Elder Monteiro in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of SRP-Laguna booed when Breguete FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmílson Munhoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 43 played minutes SRP-Laguna got a freekick which was hit by Wiliam de Souza. During the 48th minute of the match Donato Arantes completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Donato Arantes a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Breguete FC's Guga Salgado was substituted for Vitinho Galvão. In the 49th minute, Donato Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Breguete FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Roberto Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Pedro Pires in the 56th minute of the match. When SRP-Laguna's Romeu Martins in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Breguete FC's goalie prevented a goal. Romeu Martins hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. In the 63rd play minute Guga Salgado came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Roberto Barbosa. 0-2. With his leg Roberto Barbosa managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Breguete FC's Guga Salgado fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Romeu Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Evandro Salles kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Roberto Barbosa. That made the score 0-3 in the 69 minute of play. 72 minutes into the game, Romeu Martins cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Elder Monteiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 80th minute Zé Pedro Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roberto Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Breguete FC's Evandro Salles was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 82nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Matías Cardoso charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Matías Cardoso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ivo Sergipano shot from long distance after 90 played minutes, a shot that Elder Monteiro with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. 91 minutes into the game, Guga Salgado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Breguete FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SRP-Laguna the free kick. 94 minutes into the match, SRP-Laguna's goalkeeper Roberto Barbosa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Guga Salgado. Through an outstanding action, after 96 minutes, Roberto Barbosa successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The Breguete FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Breguete FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
