The referee ignored Jardim América FC's protests and gave Reynaldo de Castro a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Jardim América FC's Reynaldo de Castro got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute, Chicão de Moraes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 16 minutes into the match, Jardim América FC's goalkeeper Perivaldo Torres had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claudinho Damião. Claudinho Damião could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Perivaldo Torres made a huge save. 32 minutes into the match, União Agrícola Barbarense's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás Mazza came free, but Erik da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Recife recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With an all-out effort, União Agrícola Barbarense's Perivaldo Torres threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Delfim Melo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in União Agrícola Barbarense's zone, Reynaldo de Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik da Fonseca came out of the goal and Reynaldo de Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 43rd minute Reynaldo de Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Claudinho Damião made a kick off. Reynaldo de Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Nuno Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nuno Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 93rd match minute, Jardim América FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Neves to maneuver through the defense. After 93 played minutes, União Agrícola Barbarense's Bebeto Hermes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Perivaldo Torres came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in União Agrícola Barbarense reached it. Nico Rossi's late challenge caught a União Agrícola Barbarense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nico Rossi helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The União Agrícola Barbarense fans cheered their team off the field, for while Jardim América FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
