The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Michel Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dráusio Toscano, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute of the game, Denílson Urbano landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. A collision led to Donzela de Ferro FBPA getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Alexandre Motta hit a great ball. After 18 minutes of play, Galo do Japi's Fábio Nascimento made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Michel Viana was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedrão Capixaba in the 21st minute of play forced Galo do Japi's goalkeeper Benedito Nóbrega to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 23 played minutes Galo do Japi got a freekick which was hit by Arlindo Valle. 26 minutes into the match, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Dráusio Toscano came free, but Michel Viana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luizinho Custódio made a kick off. Michel Viana was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Orlando Arruda showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-4 in the 56 minute of play. After 61 played minutes Donzela de Ferro FBPA got a freekick which was hit by Pedrão Capixaba. Fábio Nascimento struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Michel Viana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Galo do Japi. The supporters of Donzela de Ferro FBPA booed when Galo do Japi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dráusio Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 70 minutes, Pedrão Capixaba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Donzela de Ferro FBPA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedrão Capixaba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 74 minutes of play, Galo do Japi's Luís Madureira made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Michel Viana was left in no man's land by his defense there! Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Jean Oliveira was substituted for Pedrão Capixaba. Michel Viana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dráusio Toscano in the 83rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Olívio Fontes got a free kick in the 84th minute. Dráusio Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 92nd minute Jean Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benedito Nóbrega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Madureira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Galo do Japi's Benedito Nóbrega played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Renato Rodrigues in the 96th minute of play. 96 minutes into the match, Jean Oliveira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benedito Nóbrega. Galo do Japi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jean Oliveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. Galo do Japi's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
