The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Eusébio Baptista's late challenge caught a Real Cruzeiro FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eusébio Baptista helped the player get up and apologised. In the 3rd match minute, Fenato futebol clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eusébio Baptista to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gonçalo Sarmento in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Fernando Rosado saved Fenato futebol clube from getting behind. 10 minutes into the match, Real Cruzeiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hermínio Seco came free, but Ivo Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hermínio Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Ivo Amaral made a huge save. Júnior Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Luís Fernando Rosado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdo de Medeiros in the 20th minute of play forced Real Cruzeiro FC's goalkeeper Ivo Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute, Gonçalo Sarmento ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luís Fernando Rosado was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Gonçalo Sarmento took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Luís Fernando Rosado. Luís Fernando Rosado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Ivo Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermínio Seco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 33rd match minute, Real Cruzeiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gonçalo Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. In the 35th minute, Eusébio Baptista ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivo Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 38th minute, Luís Guilherme Cabral made a precise shot to the right of Luís Fernando Rosado. Fenato futebol clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. After having played for 42 minutes, Luís Guilherme Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Cruzeiro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Guilherme Cabral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Valdo de Medeiros succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-4 in the 46th playminute. Disappointed in the 2-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gonçalo Sarmento to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Gonçalo Sarmento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hortêncio Galvão hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Valdo de Medeiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivo Amaral having to interfere. Eusébio Baptista kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. If Gonçalo Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermínio Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Luís Guilherme Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Luís Fernando Rosado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Real Cruzeiro FC's Ivo Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdo de Medeiros in the 79th minute of play. Ivo Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdo de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Eusébio Baptista kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Luís Guilherme Cabral did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-6 to the left of a surprised Luís Fernando Rosado 86 minutes into the match. Gonçalo Sarmento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Fernando Rosado read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. Luís Guilherme Cabral kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. Ivo Amaral came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Fenato futebol clube's Valdo de Medeiros. But to his dismay, Valdo de Medeiros quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-6. The supporters of Real Cruzeiro FC booed when Fenato futebol clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hortêncio Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Real Cruzeiro FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
