But to his dismay, Artur Branco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The audience was convinced that Artur Branco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luís Fernando de Andrade was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. When Valdomiro Paraibano fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored União Verde FC's protests and gave Valdomiro Paraibano a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes União Verde FC got a freekick which was hit by Valdomiro Paraibano. In the 21st minute, Artur Branco made a precise shot to the right of Luís Fernando de Andrade. União Verde FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artur Branco in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luís Fernando de Andrade saved União Verde FC from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Branco came free, but Luís Fernando de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Artur Branco scored 0-3 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luís Fernando de Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lobo Guará's Albertinho Leite got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 46 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Branco came free, but Luís Fernando de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Artur Branco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Júnior Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vinícius Lago in the 63rd minute of the match. Artur Branco's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 64thth minute, Luís Fernando de Andrade skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Artur Branco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Fernando de Andrade having to interfere. With a little luck, União Verde FC's Luís Fernando de Andrade got control of the ball when Artur Branco tried to sneak it across the goal line. 70 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Branco came free, but Luís Fernando de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdomiro Paraibano was shown his second yellow card after 70 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Augusto Sabóia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lobo Guará's supporters rose to their feet, but Augusto Sabóia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Fernando de Andrade breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Lobo Guará supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lobo Guará would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
