Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Samuca Gaúcho in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. Gildo de Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Alexsandro Carioca made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Ademir Varela sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Venécia-ES's zone, Samuca Gaúcho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guga Neves came out of the goal and Samuca Gaúcho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Guga Neves was a little too slow when Simão Pinheiro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 52nd minute. The score was now 0-2. With his leg Guga Neves managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Figueira SC FSCMZ's Marcelinho Dias fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The supporters of Figueira SC FSCMZ booed when Nova Venécia-ES was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ademir Varela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guga Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simão Pinheiro in the 67th minute of play. Marcelinho Dias who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 78thth minute tested the skills of Guga Neves when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Guga Neves made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Samuca Gaúcho sent off a good shot on target. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuca Gaúcho couldn't finish the play. Simão Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nova Venécia-ES's Guga Neves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Nova Venécia-ES from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Nova Venécia-ES booed when Figueira SC FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tadeu Alagoano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Guga Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simão Pinheiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Figueira SC FSCMZ players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
