After a rather tough play, Juventus EC's Serafim Bittencourt got a free kick in the 8th minute. The supporters of Juventus EC booed when XV de Piracicaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedrão Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Amílton Coelho put in a rough tackle. Amílton Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in XV de Piracicaba's zone, Afonso Luz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nuno Leão came out of the goal and Afonso Luz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute Frederico Recife shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Leão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. XV de Piracicaba's Enéas Brodel got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. XV de Piracicaba's Nuno Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Correia in the 32nd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, XV de Piracicaba's goal looked a bit too open when José Paulo Correia came free, but Nuno Leão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nuno Leão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romário da Rocha in the 39th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frederico Recife to strike the kick off in the second half. After 80 played minutes Juventus EC got a freekick which was hit by Geovânio Barros. After 83 played minutes Juventus EC got a freekick which was hit by José Paulo Correia. If João Augusto de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92ndth minute of the game José Paulo Correia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but XV de Piracicaba's Nuno Leão was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gualter Maranhense hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
