In the 3rd minute, Romário da Rocha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zé Pedro de Queirós was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Frederico Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Dráusio Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mateus de Senna was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Mateus de Senna was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dorian Siqueira showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 17 minute of play. Zé Pedro de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Paulo Correia in the 22nd minute of the match. 25 minutes into the match, Romário da Rocha notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of America Futebol Clube SP's Zé Pedro de Queirós. When Dráusio Souza fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored America Futebol Clube SP's protests and gave Dráusio Souza a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to America Futebol Clube SP getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Dráusio Souza hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Frederico Recife to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Juventus EC booed when America Futebol Clube SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilton Sanches didn't get a good kick on the ball. America Futebol Clube SP's Zé Pedro de Queirós played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederico Recife in the 56th minute of play. Mateus de Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mateus de Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evaristo de Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After having played for 76 minutes, Nilton Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. America Futebol Clube SP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nilton Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 81st minute Frederico Recife shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Pedro de Queirós saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frederico Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Romário da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Pedro de Queirós having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
