Defensores de Lombroso's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erasmo Lekubegi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Amancio Urtats showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelo Farias in the 8th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, El Retorno de Palermo's Gilberto Lehen got a free kick in the 9th minute. Ambrosio Muc took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Amancio Urtats. Amancio Urtats dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Bartolo Pacho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Danilo Barrionuevo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Farias in the 18th minute of play forced El Retorno de Palermo's goalkeeper Amancio Urtats to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Marcelo Farias had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Amancio Urtats. El Retorno de Palermo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcelo Farias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Amancio Urtats made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ladislao Cresconio in the 26th minute of play. Cornelio Itzaina charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cornelio Itzaina the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to El Retorno de Palermo getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Cornelio Itzaina hit a great ball. In the 29th match minute, Defensores de Lombroso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Navarro Montoya to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 31 minutes, Fernando Paublo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When Marcelo Farias came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Defensores de Lombroso fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelo Farias couldn't finish the play. In the 37thth minute of the game Bartolo Pacho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Defensores de Lombroso's Danilo Barrionuevo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Erasmo Lekubegi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 45th minute Ambrosio Muc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amancio Urtats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Defensores de Lombroso's Hernan Martxel was substituted for Antonio Napier. Defensores de Lombroso's Melchor Tebaldo was substituted for Navarro Montoya. In the 54th minute Marcelo Farias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amancio Urtats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amancio Urtats made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Amancio Urtats stood somewhat misplaced when Marcelo Farias came free in front of goal and shot 0-4 to the left of him in the 73 minute. Amancio Urtats had in the 80thth minute some difficulties stopping Erasmo Lekubegi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Ladislao Cresconio's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Amancio Urtats firmly grabbed it by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo Farias got free with Amancio Urtats in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Amancio Urtats successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Defensores de Lombroso's Marcelo Farias suffered a sore thigh after 92 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 92 minutes into the game, Higinio Azibar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Retorno de Palermo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Defensores de Lombroso the free kick. Higinio Azibar kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Ambrosio Muc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Delmiro Telmo's late challenge caught a El Retorno de Palermo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Delmiro Telmo helped the player get up and apologised. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Defensores de Lombroso walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
