The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Mateo Bingen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesar Romelio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cesar Romelio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaac Marcones in the 6th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jesus Lluis in the 10th minute of play forced Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Uriel Raymon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute Jesus Lluis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uriel Raymon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benicio Diagur hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Uriel Raymon was out of position in the 16 minute of play, and Jesus Lluis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jesus Lluis really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 19 minutes into the match, Velez Sarsfield's goalkeeper Uriel Raymon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jesus Lluis. Claudio Iturri blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Uriel Raymon having to make a save. In the 41st minute Isaac Marcones shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cesar Romelio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaspar Markel's late challenge caught a Velez Sarsfield's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jesus Lluis got free with Uriel Raymon in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wilfredo Monico made a kick off. Uriel Raymon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Iturri in the 53rd minute of play. Uriel Raymon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jesus Lluis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cesar Romelio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isaac Marcones in the 58th minute of the match. With his leg Cesar Romelio managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Velez Sarsfield's Mateo Bingen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Uriel Raymon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaspar Markel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 65th minute, Jesus Lluis made a precise shot to the right of Uriel Raymon.
