The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gerardo Benvido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amancio Magdaleno in the 5th minute of play. After having played for 6 minutes, Santo Isaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tio Cosme FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santo Isaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Humberto Mundo fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tio Cosme FC's protests and gave Humberto Mundo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Tio Cosme FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Mundo to maneuver through the defense. Danilo Frascuelo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aquiles Tuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the game, Erasmo Fernendo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gerardo Benvido. Erasmo Fernendo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. When NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Erasmo Fernendo in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tio Cosme FC's goalie prevented a goal. After 22 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Fernendo. In the 23rdth minute of the game Santo Isaio who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Danilo Frascuelo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Tio Cosme FC's Aquiles Tuste nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Danilo Frascuelo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After some careless play in the NEWELL´S OLD BOYS defense, Santo Isaio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Danilo Frascuelo. The NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Danilo Frascuelo should have stopped the shot. Aurelio Hitz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Gerardo Benvido made a huge save. In the 44th minute, Arturo Balendin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Erasmo Fernendo got free with Gerardo Benvido in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Santo Isaio to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Santo Isaio during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 53rd minute, Santo Isaio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 55 minutes into the match, Aurelio Hitz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gerardo Benvido. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After 79 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Amancio Magdaleno. With his leg Danilo Frascuelo managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when Tio Cosme FC's Santo Isaio fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 83 minutes into the game, Amancio Magdaleno cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-3. Gerardo Benvido was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Danilo Frascuelo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aquiles Tuste in the 87th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 88th minute of the game. One of Tio Cosme FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of NEWELL´S OLD BOYS:s goal. Gerardo Benvido had in the 90thth minute some difficulties stopping Rene Bernabel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Danilo Frascuelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aquiles Tuste, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Honorato Santio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Danilo Frascuelo having to make a save. Roman Kismi charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roman Kismi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 96th minute, Roman Kismi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roman Kismi hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS could leave the field as winners, despite Tio Cosme FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
