After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Zeledon Hug managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1947 FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zeledon Hug was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeronimo Abella breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s Rolando Felipo got a free kick in the 8th minute. A collision led to 1947 FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Aureliano Rius hit a great ball. Jeronimo Abella showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eustacio Beremundo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Ricardo Nicholas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Erramu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zeledon Hug in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jeronimo Abella saved INDEPENDIENTE F.C. from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eustacio Beremundo during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to 1947 FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Eustacio Beremundo hit a great ball. Jeronimo Abella didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eustacio Beremundo went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zeledon Hug made a kick off. Ricardo Nicholas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonzalo Mambru in the 54th minute of the match. Candido Arias charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Candido Arias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 59 minutes into the game, one of 1947 FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 61st minute there was a penalty for INDEPENDIENTE F.C.. Gonzalo Mambru stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ricardo Nicholas. 1-1. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when 1947 FC's Eustacio Beremundo in the 65th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Jeronimo Abella was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for INDEPENDIENTE F.C. through an amazing save. In the 66th minute, Eustacio Beremundo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s Jeronimo Abella proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save INDEPENDIENTE F.C. from getting a goal against them. In the 87th match minute, 1947 FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureliano Rius to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of 1947 FC booed when INDEPENDIENTE F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position.
