Spectators: 151 (Terracing: 114, Seating: 34, VIP seats: 3) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Arnulfo Txilar kicked off to start the match. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Barreal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnulfo Txilar didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 9th minute Arnulfo Txilar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Urbasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ariel Urbasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pedro Orlondo in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute Casimiro Galindo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amador Frichoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 14 minutes of play, Sporting de Gijón's Casimiro Galindo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Amador Frichoso was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gijón's Teodoro Niva got a free kick in the 16th minute. Amador Frichoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casimiro Galindo in the 21st minute of the match. Amador Frichoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brian Aguirre in the 22nd minute of play. Arnulfo Txilar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brian Aguirre recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 40th minute Brian Aguirre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amador Frichoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Barreal FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sporting de Gijón were winning 0-1.

Amador Frichoso came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijón's Brian Aguirre. But to his dismay, Brian Aguirre quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Genaro Ekhi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barreal FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Genaro Ekhi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ariel Urbasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 69th minute Ladislao Gabino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Urbasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Genaro Ekhi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ariel Urbasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Benicio Edorta hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Arnulfo Txilar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Pedro Orlondo came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Barreal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Orlondo couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Barreal FC's Siro Abajas got a free kick in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute, Casimiro Galindo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 88th match minute, Barreal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Orlondo to maneuver through the defense. Amador Frichoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelino Pelagius, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee felt a red card was in order, 94 minutes into the game, when Angelino Pelagius put in a rough tackle. In the 95th minute, Angelino Pelagius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 96 minutes into the match, Barreal FC's Ladislao Gabino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ariel Urbasa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sporting de Gijón walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
