The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute, Saul Beltza ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hernan Checa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 7 minutes, Diego Markel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bahía é Carnaval and the Leon Platense players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 7 played minutes Bahía é Carnaval got a freekick which was hit by Diego Markel. A collision led to Leon Platense getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Marco Umbruso hit a great ball. 15 minutes into the match, Bahía é Carnaval's goalkeeper Hernan Checa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Saul Beltza. Cecilio Garci took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emilio Hug, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hernan Checa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marco Umbruso in the 19th minute of the match. After 21 minutes, Baldomero Iraitz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bahía é Carnaval and the Leon Platense players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 22 played minutes Bahía é Carnaval got a freekick which was hit by Baldomero Iraitz. Gabriel Bilbo hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Leon Platense's zone, Emilio Hug stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cecilio Garci came out of the goal and Emilio Hug tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Leon Platense booed when Bahía é Carnaval was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Markel didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Alejandro Tavio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute, Emilio Hug hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bahía é Carnaval fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 45 minutes, Leon Platense's Saul Beltza got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Hernan Checa. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Saul Beltza made a kick off. Emilio Hug kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 55th minute, Marco Umbruso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hernan Checa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Beltza in the 62nd minute of play. Baldomero Iraitz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alejandro Ralondo during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Diego Markel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 82 minutes, Emilio Hug managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bahía é Carnaval's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emilio Hug was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot by Alejandro Tavio from long distance, 86 minutes into the match, got Cecilio Garci's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Emilio Hug scored 2-1 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cecilio Garci, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Saul Beltza in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hernan Checa saved Bahía é Carnaval from getting behind.
