Independiente's Weldon Morrow sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Remicio Cismado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Todd Ogden fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C. A. Independiente's protests and gave Todd Ogden a yellow card for diving instead. Todd Ogden hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Lucas Cespedes got a free kick in the 6th minute. After 8 played minutes Glorioso Deportivo Cali got a freekick which was hit by Lucas Cespedes. The audience was convinced that Iruinea Echeguren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Levi Clement was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in C. A. Independiente's zone, Xuban Benedid stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Levi Clement came out of the goal and Xuban Benedid tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Remicio Cismado was out of position in the 22 minute of play, and Chad Carrier capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Chad Carrier really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 33rd minute, C. A. Independiente's Roy Huston dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. In the 37th match minute, C. A. Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brady Hooks to maneuver through the defense. When Glorioso Deportivo Cali's Jorge López in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye C. A. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iruinea Echeguren to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iruinea Echeguren got free with Levi Clement in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Boyd Ashley kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 57th minute Ferdinand Bauer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remicio Cismado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iruinea Echeguren in the 61st minute of play forced C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Levi Clement to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iruinea Echeguren's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 66thth minute, Levi Clement skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The supporters of Glorioso Deportivo Cali booed when C. A. Independiente was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Flynn didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute the ball was on its way in behind C. A. Independiente's goalkeeper Levi Clement, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Romildo Sotomayor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Levi Clement having to interfere. Remicio Cismado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roy Huston in the 82nd minute of play. Iruinea Echeguren struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Levi Clement didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Glorioso Deportivo Cali. In the 89th minute, Boyd Ashley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Chad Carrier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. C. A. Independiente were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Glorioso Deportivo Cali for a fine match.
