Tyrone McCracken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hulberto Arias in the 13th minute of play. Sal Whittington could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Raul Platas made a huge save. If Sal Whittington had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Atletico Maturrango getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Xavier Reigada hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the match, Kentucky Mustangs's goal looked a bit too open when Dei Ibarlucea came free, but Tyrone McCracken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Kentucky Mustangs getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Santo Finney hit a great ball. After 24 played minutes Kentucky Mustangs got a freekick which was hit by Willis Lockhart. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eufemio Zugarrondo in the 25th minute of play forced Kentucky Mustangs's goalkeeper Tyrone McCracken to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Atletico Maturrango's Eufemio Andonegui got a free kick in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Atletico Maturrango's goal looked a bit too open when Wade Olson came free, but Raul Platas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Dei Ibarlucea came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Atletico Maturrango fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dei Ibarlucea couldn't finish the play. Willis Lockhart hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Hulberto Arias struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Tyrone McCracken didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Maturrango. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Dei Ibarlucea made the kick off in the second half. Sal Whittington's late challenge caught a Atletico Maturrango's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sal Whittington helped the player get up and apologised. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dei Ibarlucea got free with Tyrone McCracken in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 63 minutes into the match, Dei Ibarlucea notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Kentucky Mustangs's Tyrone McCracken. Tyrone McCracken was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Kentucky Mustangs's Silas McNair was substituted for Sal Whittington. The supporters of Atletico Maturrango booed when Kentucky Mustangs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santo Finney didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 91 played minutes Kentucky Mustangs got a freekick which was hit by Santo Finney.
