In the 13th minute Cumbicus Caller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celestino Villamañan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Diablos Rojos's goal looked a bit too open when José-Manuel Teigeiro came free, but Celestino Villamañan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Inter de Guayaquil FC's Cumbicus Caller in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Celestino Villamañan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Calenga in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Diablos Rojos's goalkeeper Celestino Villamañan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cumbicus Caller. In the 31st minute, Generosb Solana made a precise shot to the right of Danilo Villafane. Inter de Guayaquil FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 46 minutes, Generosb Solana mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Diablos Rojos and the Inter de Guayaquil FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Diablos Rojos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Generosb Solana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cumbicus Caller was the one to do the kick off. Danilo Villafane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaston Durango, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cumbicus Caller recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 56 minutes into the game, Gaston Durango was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Diablos Rojos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter de Guayaquil FC the free kick. Gaston Durango kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Danilo Villafane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Generosb Solana, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Diablos Rojos's Celestino Villamañan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José-Manuel Teigeiro in the 66th minute of play. Celestino Villamañan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cumbicus Caller, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cordero Sotomayor came free, but Danilo Villafane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcelo Calenga in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Celestino Villamañan saved Diablos Rojos from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Diablos Rojos's Gaston Durango slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Danilo Villafane. That made the score 0-2 after 82 minutes of play. Diablos Rojos's Celestino Villamañan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelo Calenga in the 87th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Generosb Solana in the 88th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Danilo Villafane to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Cordero Sotomayor fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Diablos Rojos's protests and gave Cordero Sotomayor a yellow card for diving instead. Marcelo Calenga scored 1-2 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Celestino Villamañan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Diablos Rojos had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
