Kent Carney hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. After 29 played minutes FC Philotimo got a freekick which was hit by Héctor Lloret. An unexpectedly hard shot by Scott Souza in the 32nd minute of play forced FC Philotimo's goalkeeper Quiñónez Louzara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Scott Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quiñónez Louzara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Scott Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. José-Francisco Esparza kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Scott Souza was the one to do the kick off. Kent Carney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Quiñónez Louzara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José-Francisco Esparza made in the 61st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Blandón Veladiez immediately put the ball in play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Percy Pritchard during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Vince Potts had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84thth minute of the game Scott Souza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Philotimo's Quiñónez Louzara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Scott Souza might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Quiñónez Louzara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Scott Souza ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of El Canalla de Chicago booed when FC Philotimo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Justavino Cortez didn't get a good kick on the ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. El Canalla de Chicago fully deserved thier win.
