The tension between the American Airlines and the Deportivo Popolizio FBC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Heriberto Conley kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Anthony Shields took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quintan Ontavilla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, American Airlines's Anthony Shields got control of the ball when Quintan Ontavilla tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Popolizio FBC's zone, Heriberto Conley stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduardo Lezarreta came out of the goal and Heriberto Conley tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phil Craft in the 38th minute of play forced Deportivo Popolizio FBC's goalkeeper Eduardo Lezarreta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Deportivo Popolizio FBC defense, Mark Greenwood kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eduardo Lezarreta. The Deportivo Popolizio FBC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eduardo Lezarreta should have stopped the shot. In the 46th minute of the match Felipe Sotelo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Anthony Shields showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

In the 61st match minute, American Airlines was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Heriberto Conley to maneuver through the defense. Phil Craft recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 67th match minute, American Airlines was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Titus Guillory to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute, Mark Greenwood fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Eduardo Lezarreta, passed just outside the right post. 74 minutes into the match, Deportivo Popolizio FBC's goal looked a bit too open when Youri Gagarin came free, but Eduardo Lezarreta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 75 minutes had been played when some careless play by Deportivo Popolizio FBC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Carlos Adams was slow to take the kick. During this time American Airlines's players had a chance to rest. Anthony Shields took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baladi Vellana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Deportivo Popolizio FBC booed when American Airlines was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position.
