Antero Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flavio Phelipe's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rui Reis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Cristiano Diegues was shown his second yellow card after 47 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Antero Sarmento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 55 in the game by Flavio Phelipe from a close distance when the talented Rui Reis managed to make a qualified save. Olhanense's players were relieved. Antero Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Higinio Reno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Olhanense's Rui Reis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Olhanense from getting a goal against them. Millonarios's Higinio Reno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antero Sarmento in the 62nd minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Augusto Froila hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flavio Phelipe got free with Rui Reis in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. From close distance Flavio Phelipe pressed in the 0-5 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 69 minutes into the game. After having played for 75 minutes, Alcides Ventura managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olhanense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alcides Ventura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elias Abancens received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rui Reis came out and tried to block the shot, but Elias Abancens slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 78th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Antero Sarmento in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Higinio Reno saved Millonarios from getting behind. In the 84th minute, Leopoldo Vidal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 85 minutes into the game, Augusto Froila recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rui Reis. Augusto Froila showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-7. Flavio Phelipe could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Rui Reis made a huge save. Olhanense's defense didn't have a chance, in the 94th minute, when Augusto Froila scored to the left of an out of position Rui Reis, making the score, 0-8. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Millonarios had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
