After a rather tough play, Stal Sanok's Ari Hakanpää got a free kick in the 2nd minute. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Cui Liang Xiong put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Dušan Ančic. A hard shot 12 in the game by Cihat Cevval from a close distance when the talented Dušan Ančic managed to make a qualified save. Club Atlético de Newell's players were relieved. Dušan Ančic made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cui Liang Xiong in the 17th minute of play. Cihat Cevval came free with the goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dušan Ančic could save by the left post. In the 22nd minute of the match Stal Sanok got a corner. Club Atlético de Newell's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Lin Ang ran over to the corner to take the kick. After a rather tough play, Club Atlético de Newell's Devon Howson got a free kick in the 23rd minute. With a little luck, Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic got control of the ball when Cihat Cevval tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 27 played minutes Stal Sanok got a freekick which was hit by Jaroslaw Filanowski. Club Atlético de Newell's Arbi Newell couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Stal Sanok. Stal Sanok's Sune Rudberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Percival in the 33rd minute of play. Boleslaw Dres could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Dušan Ančic made a huge save. In the 43rd minute Spike Foley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sune Rudberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atlético de Newell's goalkeeper Dušan Ančic, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sebastian Percival to strike the kick off in the second half. Dragoş Antoniu kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Devon Howson got free with Sune Rudberg in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 57th minute, Arbi Newell fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Sune Rudberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Devon Howson in the 58th minute. Dušan Ančic made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dragoş Antoniu in the 60th minute of play. After 66 minutes Club Atlético de Newell's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lin Ang who took care of the corner kick. Stal Sanok's Lin Ang was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dušan Ančic in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Club Atlético de Newell's Dušan Ančic played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cihat Cevval in the 70th minute of play. It was a well-played corner which Nicu Nicuşor managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Stal Sanok's Sune Rudberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Devon Howson in the 75th minute of play. A collision led to Stal Sanok getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Augusto Lazcano hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Spike Foley took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Sune Rudberg to make any attempt to save it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Boleslaw Dres in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dušan Ančic prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Club Atlético de Newell booed when Stal Sanok was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaroslaw Filanowski didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute, Sebastian Percival fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Club Atlético de Newell's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
