Gianluigi Lentini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Orhan Veli Malgır read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. The supporters of TSV 1860 Berg am Laim booed when Palestra14 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gianluigi Lentini didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nino Sócrates lost his temper 22 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Palestra14:s Frits Heinel showed great skill when he stopped Wilfredo Gombal:s penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cain Vieri in the 25th minute of play forced TSV 1860 Berg am Laim's goalkeeper Orhan Veli Malgır to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 46 minutes, Trey Searle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the TSV 1860 Berg am Laim and the Palestra14 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Cain Vieri managed to get in a good position for a shot.
