With a couple of smart ball manuevers Harvey Dresdner in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Teodoro Peio saved Atlético Nacional from getting behind. Khalid Gottschalk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Baldomero Rodas in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The crowd rose to their feet as Hemmersbacher SV's Luca Saenger slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Teodoro Peio. That made the score 1-1 after 52 minutes of play.
