Gordon Banks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angelino Inautzi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Serafino Chinto struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Bernardino Dimas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for HFA FC. The audience was convinced that Serafino Chinto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bernardino Dimas was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. The supporters of HFA FC booed when Atlético Rio Cuarto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edelmiro Endura didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Hermengildo Gorka notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Atlético Rio Cuarto's Bernardino Dimas. Bernardino Dimas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benjamin Abarca got a throw-in 30 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Hermengildo Gorka. Paulo Ferrari hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. When Angelino Inautzi came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Atlético Rio Cuarto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angelino Inautzi couldn't finish the play. Angelino Inautzi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gordon Banks read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hermengildo Gorka was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of HFA FC booed when Atlético Rio Cuarto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Abeitia didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 54th minute, when HFA FC's C.J. De la Sotta after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Bernardino Dimas in Atlético Rio Cuarto's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. Angelino Inautzi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Gordon Banks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Atlético Rio Cuarto's Bernardino Dimas got control of the ball when Hermengildo Gorka tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 64th minute of the match HFA FC got a corner. Atlético Rio Cuarto's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. C.J. De la Sotta ran over to the corner to take the kick. HFA FC's C.J. De la Sotta was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Bernardino Dimas in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 65 minutes into the match, Atlético Rio Cuarto's goalkeeper Bernardino Dimas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by C.J. De la Sotta. In the 65th match minute, HFA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafino Chinto to maneuver through the defense. Gordon Banks showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angelino Inautzi in the 68th minute of the match. In the 70th minute Angelino Inautzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gordon Banks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gordon Banks came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Rio Cuarto's Angelino Inautzi. But to his dismay, Angelino Inautzi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After 73 minutes of play, Atlético Rio Cuarto's Santos Montel made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gordon Banks was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Serafino Chinto got free with Bernardino Dimas in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 76 played minutes Atlético Rio Cuarto got a freekick which was hit by Primitivo Abeitia. 78 minutes into the match, Atlético Rio Cuarto's goalkeeper Bernardino Dimas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hermengildo Gorka. After a rather tough play, HFA FC's Benjamin Abarca got a free kick in the 91st minute. Atlético Rio Cuarto's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
