Nae Pavel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fernandez Cuero in the 11th minute. In the 13th minute Călin Pamfil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xulio Prats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 15 played minutes Barcelona Sporting Club got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Garagorri. In the 17th minute Romeo Crețulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Xulio Prats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the match, Fernandez Cuero notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of U Craiova's Nae Pavel. Nae Pavel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 22 minutes into the match, Barcelona Sporting Club's goal looked a bit too open when Narcis Silişteanu came free, but Xulio Prats reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Barcelona Sporting Club defense, Narcis Silişteanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Xulio Prats. The Barcelona Sporting Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Xulio Prats should have stopped the shot. Fernandez Cuero kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. After having played for 34 minutes, Fernandez Cuero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barcelona Sporting Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernandez Cuero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fernandez Cuero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Nae Pavel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Crețulescu in the 41st minute of play forced Barcelona Sporting Club's goalkeeper Xulio Prats to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute, Barcelona Sporting Club's Cristian Garagorri ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nae Pavel. Nae Pavel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Horea Frumușanu to make the kick off. Xulio Prats showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narcis Silişteanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. If Narcis Silişteanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barcelona Sporting Club's goalkeeper Xulio Prats, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nae Pavel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from De-la-Cruz Avecilla in the 63rd minute of play. De-la-Cruz Avecilla took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nae Pavel. Nae Pavel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. De-la-Cruz Avecilla's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nae Pavel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. Narcis Silişteanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Xulio Prats tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Romeo Crețulescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 77th minute Fernandez Cuero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Pavel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Barcelona Sporting Club getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Efrain Mascareñas hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by De-la-Cruz Avecilla in the 89th minute of play forced U Craiova's goalkeeper Nae Pavel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nae Pavel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from De-la-Cruz Avecilla in the 92nd minute of play. Virgilio Huarte hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Xulio Prats made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Horea Frumușanu in the 95th minute of play. U Craiova's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
