Aírton de Lima showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geovanildo Luis, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Haji Sarap made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válbson de Alcântara in the 11th minute of play. In the 13th minute Geovanildo Luis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aírton de Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovanildo Luis might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aírton de Lima. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geovanildo Luis ran back to his position shaking his head. If Artur Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válbson de Alcântara blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Haji Sarap having to make a save. Aírton de Lima stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geovanildo Luis's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. Aírton de Lima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovanildo Luis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Haji Sarap made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Sabóia in the 34th minute of play. Artur Sabóia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Haji Sarap made a huge save. In the 36th minute Geovanildo Luis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aírton de Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dudu Hermes made in the 39th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Xie Ao immediately put the ball in play. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Geovanildo Luis got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, Geovanildo Luis notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Motta Futebol Clube's Aírton de Lima. Aírton de Lima was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Válbson de Alcântara was the one to do the kick off. Motta Futebol Clube:s Aírton de Lima showed great skill when he stopped João Francisco Arce:s penalty. Joinville City - FSCMZ made a substitution. Marcus Allbäck replaced Bernardino Llorenc. 68 minutes into the match, Válbson de Alcântara notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap. Haji Sarap was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Pogba in the 72nd minute of play forced Motta Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Aírton de Lima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Válbson de Alcântara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aírton de Lima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adhemar Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute, Joinville City - FSCMZ's Marcus Allbäck dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Sabóia in the 86th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Joinville City - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Kılıç Tunçöven came free, but Haji Sarap reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aírton de Lima took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adhemar Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aírton de Lima was a little too slow when Adhemar Santos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 92nd minute. The score was now 1-4. In the 95th match minute, Motta Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Arantes to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcus Allbäck got free with Aírton de Lima in the 99th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Joinville City - FSCMZ players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
