After 6 minutes Grêmio FBPA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Carlos Berbiz who took care of the corner kick. Codruț Hanganu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pipis Karapatakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches got control of the ball when He Gang Jian tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute of the match, He Gang Jian got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jardel Sanches was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Pipis Karapatakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Jardel Sanches had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diego Sánchez. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Diego Sánchez in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jardel Sanches saved Grêmio FBPA from getting behind. Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by He Gang Jian in the 38th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Astor Haimar to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when He Gang Jian came free, but Jardel Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Astor Haimar might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jardel Sanches. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Astor Haimar ran back to his position shaking his head. White&Blue Lions-Stiinta-'s Codruț Hanganu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 85th minute of play. Jardel Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugurel Nediu in the 89th minute of play. Pipis Karapatakis struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Codruț Hanganu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio FBPA. The White&Blue Lions-Stiinta- supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Grêmio FBPA's performance. The match ended with a win for Grêmio FBPA.
