Gustavo Sergipano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Akis Sarafis having to make a save. With an all-out effort, IGUIPORÃ FC's Akis Sarafis threw himself towards the right post 9 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gustavo Sergipano, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, IGUIPORÃ FC's Gabby Batistuta got a free kick in the 11th minute. Carlos Carioca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Markos Seremetidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15thth minute of the game Markos Seremetidis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but IGUIPORÃ FC's Carlos Carioca was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlos Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Markos Seremetidis in the 16th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michelangelo Merganiotis in the 18th minute of play forced IGUIPORÃ FC's goalkeeper Carlos Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustavo Sergipano might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Akis Sarafis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustavo Sergipano ran back to his position shaking his head. Akis Sarafis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gustavo Sergipano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute Markos Seremetidis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the game, Markos Seremetidis cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. AFC Ajax's Bob Marley was substituted for Markos Seremetidis. The wind increased when Gustavo Sergipano made the kick off in the second half. Carlos Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michelangelo Merganiotis in the 52nd minute of play. AFC Ajax were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after IGUIPORÃ FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Miltos Margaritidis took the corner. The corner led AFC Ajax's Lakis Tsopakis to fire away a dangerous shot which Carlos Carioca despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. AFC Ajax made a substitution. Aureo Morera replaced German Sarracino. IGUIPORÃ FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Danél Iriart in the 60th minute. IGUIPORÃ FC's Carlos Carioca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save IGUIPORÃ FC from getting a goal against them. 63 minutes into the match, IGUIPORÃ FC's goalkeeper Carlos Carioca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bob Marley. In the 66th minute AFC Ajax were awarded a corner. Miltos Margaritidis went to the cornerflag to take it. IGUIPORÃ FC's Eric Hjortsberg was substituted for Gustavo Sergipano. Bob Marley could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Carlos Carioca made a huge save. Akis Sarafis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Paulo Chaves, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. AFC Ajax's Stavros Tsebelis got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Eric Hjortsberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Akis Sarafis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Hjortsberg in the 89th minute of play. Lambis Zacharatos made in the 92nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Stavros Tsebelis. Akis Sarafis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eric Hjortsberg's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. AFC Ajax walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
