With a couple of smart ball manuevers Teodosio Ascencio in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Petr Čech saved Batalhão do Peçanha from getting behind. The supporters of Deportivo Messina booed when Batalhão do Peçanha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carter Leggeri didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the game, Ma Kuan Yun recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Yuriy Babushkin. Ma Kuan Yun might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yuriy Babushkin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Ma Kuan Yun made the kick off in the second half. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Batalhão do Peçanha fans cheered their team off the field, for while Deportivo Messina had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
