In the 4th minute, Zico Zidane fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Tostão Cardoso, passed just outside the right post. 6 minutes into the match, FC Santo Giorgio's goal looked a bit too open when André Luís Schmidt came free, but Chico Vass reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chico Vass showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from André Luís Schmidt, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. When Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FC Santo Giorgio's goalie prevented a goal. Montesclarense E.C.'s Wilson do Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 17 minutes of play, Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chico Vass was left in no man's land by his defense there! Silvano Laurin took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tostão Cardoso. Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Silvano Laurin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 24 minutes into the game, Sebastián de la Rosa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Santo Giorgio's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montesclarense E.C. the free kick. The supporters of Montesclarense E.C. booed when FC Santo Giorgio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastián de la Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute Paulão Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chico Vass saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gonçalo Diniz hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the game, Ryland Giggs cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Tostão Cardoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 34th match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Durval Tinoco to maneuver through the defense. When Jorge Sá fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montesclarense E.C.'s protests and gave Jorge Sá a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FC Santo Giorgio booed when Montesclarense E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Ryland Giggs managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Santo Giorgio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ryland Giggs was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 42nd minute André Luís Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chico Vass saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Santo Giorgio's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ernani Tavares was slow to take the kick. During this time Montesclarense E.C.'s players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Jorge Sá heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Zico Zidane might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tostão Cardoso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zico Zidane ran back to his position shaking his head. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Paulão Medeiros made the kick off in the second half. Chico Vass showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilson do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Zico Zidane struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Tostão Cardoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Santo Giorgio. Tostão Cardoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ryland Giggs's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Herbruger in the 65th minute of play forced Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Tostão Cardoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tostão Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ryland Giggs in the 67th minute of play. Montesclarense E.C.'s Tostão Cardoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryland Giggs in the 68th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zico Zidane in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tostão Cardoso saved Montesclarense E.C. from getting behind. Tostão Cardoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvano Laurin in the 73rd minute of the match. The corner ended in Endre Hegedűs almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Montesclarense E.C.'s Tostão Cardoso did a great save. Tostão Cardoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Herbruger in the 77th minute of play. Zico Zidane struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Tostão Cardoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Santo Giorgio. Klinsmann Brolin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tostão Cardoso having to make a save. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
